The Father of Robotics: Ismail-Al-Jazari

Ismail al-Jazari, a Muslim scientist from the twelfth century, is known as the "Father of Robotics" for his revolutionary contributions to the study of robots.

Today, the cutting-edge world is all around familiar with robots, and quite a bit of this worldwide headway in mechanical technology originates from the idea of mechanization. Shockingly, the underlying foundations of this field can be followed back to the middle age time, very nearly a thousand years prior, regardless of the overall conviction that mechanical technology is a production of twentieth-century researchers. Among the urgent figures from the middle age time frame in the field of mechanical technology was Badi-az-Zaman al Jazari, a Muslim researcher, mathematician, designer, and trend-setter, brought into the world in Jazaria (cutting-edge Turkey) during the Artuqid Tradition.

Al-Jazari acquired notoriety for his cunning pre-current robots constrained by different water-powered gear frameworks. He made various gadgets that filled in as antecedents to the present robots, and his profound comprehension of mechanization in the twelfth century filled in as a wellspring of motivation for the ensuing ages of researchers.

In his different composed works, Al-Jazari carefully gave bit-by-bit guidelines for developing a large number of these machines and gadgets. His books act as a significant store of information about early Muslim design. What put his directions aside from those of his peers was their fastidious enumerating of every part of his machines. Moreover, these directions were so deliberately coordinated that numerous future experts could expand upon his mechanical manifestations effortlessly.

Surprisingly, Al-Jazari can be attributed as the main individual to develop a programmable humanoid robot in 1206, during the Islamic Brilliant Age of the Medieval times.

It's conceivable that you probably won't have known about Al-Jazari previously, however, presently you comprehend the reason why that may be the situation. He was a Muslim researcher with unmistakable clothing, including a turban and facial hair growth.

WhatsApp Introduced a new Chat Lock Feature

Enhance your WhatsApp Privacy with Chat Lock

On both smartphones and tablets, the chat lock function can be used to protect your most private conversations. You'll need to unlock them using device security methods like your phone's passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint identification to read or send messages in these chats. These password-protected chats are kept separately in a particular "Locked Chats" section.

Chats that have been locked keep privacy by having contacts and notification content obscured. Notifications just say "WhatsApp: 1 new message" without giving any other information. If you want to store media in your device's gallery, you'll need to temporarily disable the chat lock to protect the privacy of your media files.

It's important to know that chat lock can also be used to secure group and muted chats. Calls from contacts or groups in locked chat, however, won't be hidden and will continue to show as usual.

Only talks on that specific phone will be impacted by turning on the chat lock. The chats on any other devices you have linked to WhatsApp, such as a desktop computer, remain to be unlocked.

Your locked chats will remain locked when you restore to a new phone, even if you use WhatsApp's backup and restore feature. On the new device, locked chats will only be accessible after device verification has been set up using either Face ID or fingerprint identification.

Importantly, when you enable chat lock, the person you are talking with will not be aware that you've locked the chat.

If you want to lock an archived chat, you must unarchive it first to apply the lock.

Set up Chat Lock:

For any individual chat that you want to hide, you can turn on the chat lock in the chat's information settings. Before locking a chat, you are required to set up your device authentication methods, such as your phone's passcode, fingerprint scanner, or Face ID, if you haven't already.

Steps to lock your private chats:

1. Tap the details of the chat.

2. Choose "Chat lock."

3. Click "Lock this chat with Face ID" and then sign in with Face ID to confirm.

4. In the folder for Locked chats, select "View" to open the chat.

Follow the below-mentioned steps, to view your locked chats:

1. Open your WhatsApp Chats tab and swipe downward.

2. Click the folder for Locked chats.

3.  Verify your Face ID.

4. Enter the chat you want to read or write in.

Taking away Chat Lock:

You can disable the chat lock right from the chat's information settings if you want to do so.

This is how to turn off the chat lock:

1. Check the information in the chat.

2. Choose "Chat lock."

3. Set the lock off and verify with Face ID.

Japan Environmentally Friendly "Green Newspaper"

Japanese Newspapers that can grow into plants after use

The Mainichi Shimbunsha, a well-known Japanese national daily, has introduced an extremely sustainable magazine called the "Green Newspaper" in a remarkable demonstration of environmental innovation. This innovative newspaper is made from a combination of recycled and vegetable paper, but what makes it unique is its exceptional capacity to be planted after reading. This environmentally friendly newspaper is based on a technology that has been around for a while and includes mixing recycled paper, water, and tiny flower or plant seeds. Instead of throwing away the newspaper when you are done reading it, you can cut it into small pieces, plant it, and water it. The paper is going to amaze you by blooming into plants and flowers in only a few short weeks.

The eco-friendly newspaper idea came up in collaboration with Dentsu Inc., one of the biggest advertising firms in Japan, which works with "The Mainichi." It has a history of being highly dedicated to environmental causes; in the past, it ran advertisements in support of water donations for underserved towns. The Green Newspaper acquired a daily readership of over four million copies around the country and generated earnings of over eighty million yen, or more than $700,000. This sustainability effort has proven to be quite effective. This effort also has an impact on educational institutions, working with schools to educate kids about environmental issues and the value of recycling, especially when it comes to paper, a crucial step in lowering CO2 emissions related to transportation.

High speed Underwater Train from Dubai to Mumbai India

The UAE plans to build a rapid underwater railway that will link Dubai with Mumbai, India.

A concept by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build an underwater train connecting Dubai and Mumbai, India, is now being aggressively pursued. This ground-breaking project, which will cover almost 1,200 miles (2,000 km) between the two cities, has the potential to completely alter travel.

The UAE has a history of driving advancements in technology, from projects like the Hyperloop to self-driving aircraft. The UAE-based company National Advisor Bureau Limited recently unveiled a creative idea known as the "floating underwater network," which would connect Mumbai and Fujairah in the UAE.

The concept of an underwater railway traveling from Dubai to Mumbai initially came up in 2018, though it was almost ignored at the time. It's important to remember that there have been previous instances of underwater railway tunnels; the Channel Tunnel, which connects the UK and France, is among the most well-known examples worldwide.

A practical blueprint for the underwater railway system and specifications for needed trains are now being developed by the National Advisor Bureau of the UAE.

Beyond simply carrying passengers, this 2,000 km long and extensive undersea rail network also has big objectives to make it easier to move various goods, including oil. The train's speed can be set to be in the range of 600–1000 km/h

This is a conceptual project that aims to use high-speed floating trains to link the Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah, according to Abdulla Alshehhi, the Managing Director and Chief Consultant of National Advisor Bureau Limited. The main objective is to boost bilateral trade. The initiative aims to import surplus water from the Narmada River, which is located north of Mumbai, and export oil from Fujairah port to India. Furthermore, it provides opportunities for other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) partners to grow their import and export activities.

Defamation Battle: Jazz Sues SNGPL for PKR 10 Billion

Jazz Takes Legal Action Against SNGPL Over False Gas Theft Accusation, Demanding a Compensation of PKR 10 Billion

Pakistan's leading digital operator Jazz, denies the claim of gas theft made by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in a press release on Tuesday.

The claim made by SNGPL against a multinational company like Jazz, which is one of the top taxpayers in the nation and has made over $10.5 billion in investments in Pakistan, is baseless. These bogus claims have the potential to bring down the trust of investors and might negatively affect the stability of the national economy.

Jazz has legally sent Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) a defamation notice, seeking PKR 10 billion in compensation in response to the false accusations of gas theft from the gas firm.

Jazz has stated that "none of the network sites around the country have been set up for the use of natural gas. In addition to damaging national interests, SNGPL's negligent behavior of making false allegations has the potential to negatively affect the confidence of international investors. We continue to be dedicated to maintaining transparency while maintaining the welfare of our country and the trust of our stakeholders".

Apple Incurs $200 Billion Loss in 2 Days

Apple Suffers $200 Billion Loss Over 48 Hours Amidst China's iPhone Ban

CNN reports Apple's staggering $200 billion losses over just two days, marking it as the Dow Jones Industrial Average's worst-performing company. This dramatic decline, resulting from a 2.9% drop in Apple's stock on Thursday, is a direct response to China's plans to expand its iPhone ban to encompass businesses and government-supported organizations.

According to The Wall Street Journal's Wednesday report, China issued guidelines instructing officials in key government departments to refrain from using Apple iPhones and other foreign-branded devices for work or within their workplaces. This move is part of a broader cybersecurity and reduced reliance on foreign technology initiatives.

Bloomberg later revealed that these bans would also extend to state-owned enterprises and government-supported entities, including major players like PetroChina, a company employing millions.

These bans raise serious concerns for Apple, given China's status as its largest foreign market, contributing approximately 20% of its total revenue in the previous year.

From 1 to 999: The Journey to Find the Letter 'A'

The most used alphabet 'a' doesn't appear in the spelling of 1 to 999. It appears for the first time in the spelling of 1000.

The letter 'a' is conspicuously absent in the English spellings of numbers from 1 to 999. It's a curious linguistic quirk that catches one's attention. However, when we reach the number 1000, we finally encounter the first appearance of the letter 'a.' This peculiar fact highlights the diversity and idiosyncrasies of language, demonstrating how even the most common elements can be intriguingly absent until a certain point. It reminds us of the intricate patterns and anomalies that exist within the structure of our language, making it a fascinating subject of study for linguists and language enthusiasts alike.

The Impact of Moonless Earth: What Happens if there's no Moon

Shorter Days, Darker Nights & A Year With a Thousand Days: What Life Would Be Like Without the Moon

Our world as we know it would be drastically changed if the Moon disappeared. Earth's days would be substantially shorter without the moon, lasting only six to twelve hours. The lack of the moon's gravitational pull, which over time slows our planet's spin, would cause this substantial change. Due to the shorter day-night cycles, we may experience more than a thousand days in a calendar year. The only light in the sky would be from stars and far-off galaxies, making our nights much darker.

Additionally, the Moon is essential in maintaining Earth's axial tilt, which prevents abrupt climate changes. Without it, our world would likely be uninhabitable for many species, including humans, due to wilder temperature variations.

Additionally, the Moon has influenced cultural, religious, and scientific developments throughout history. Its absence would undoubtedly reshape our collective understanding of the cosmos and our place within it.

In conclusion, a world without the moon would be shorter, darker, less stable, and fundamentally different, with far-reaching effects on both nature and human civilization.

Is India Officially going to be renamed "Bharat" ?

President Droupadi Murmu is referred to as “President of Bharat” instead of “President of India” in the invitation sent to G20 attendees on Tuesday;

The invitation sent to G20 attendees on September 5, 2023, for the G20 summit dinner hosted at Rashtrapati Bhawan has raised eyebrows due to the use of the term 'President of Bharat' instead of 'President of India.' This has led to widespread speculation about a potential move by the Central government to rename the country from India to Bharat.

This shift in terminology finds support among officials within Prime Minister Modi's right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They argue that the term 'India' was imposed during British colonial rule and is viewed as a symbol of past subjugation. The British colonized India for nearly two centuries until the country gained independence in 1947.

The BJP has a history of promoting a nationalist agenda that seeks to distance India from its Mughal and colonial history. Critics argue that this agenda aims to transform constitutionally secular India into an ethnically Hindu state.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the name change, some speculate that the purpose behind convening a special five-day session of Parliament starting on September 18th, which coincides with the 74th anniversary of the adoption of Article 1 by the Constituent Assembly, could be related to this potential renaming of the country to Bharat.

Revealing Moon's Multi-coloured Beauty

Marcella Julia Pace an Italian photographer took ten Years to capture these 48 colours of the Moon:

The true color of the moon is an off-white to brown-gray shade when its dusty surface is illuminated by the sun. However, our perception of the moon's color and shape is significantly influenced by Earth's atmosphere. Marcella Giulia Pace, an Italian photographer who has been documenting lunar variations for a decade, carefully selected 48 of her images to create a comparative spiral montage.

The diverse range of colors we observe on the moon occurs when it is viewed or photographed through the stratified and irregular layers of gases in Earth's atmosphere. These layers contain minuscule air molecules that scatter light when it interacts with them. Importantly, the structure of these molecules causes blue light to scatter more readily than red or orange light. This phenomenon is particularly pronounced when Pace captures images of the moon as it rises or when it hovers just above the horizon, resulting in a more prominent reddish or orangish glow. Additionally, other atmospheric components, such as water droplets, dust, and smoke from wildfires, also influence the path of light, imparting specific hues to the moon based on the properties of these suspended materials.

Furthermore, the apparent shape of the moon is distorted as its emitted light traverses the varying densities of Earth's atmosphere. Given that the atmosphere near the Earth's surface is much denser than the upper layers, the path of light passing through these different densities becomes bent. Consequently, the source of light from the moon may appear as a compressed ellipse rather than a full lunar disk.

"Pakistan's Brain Drain Dilemma: First Half of 2023's Migration Wave"

Official Data Reveals Over 450,000 Pakistanis Seeking Better Job Opportunities Abroad in the First Half of 2023:

In the year 2023, Pakistan grapples with a deepening brain drain crisis. Over the initial six months, from January to July, a substantial 450,110 Pakistanis have left their homeland in pursuit of employment opportunities overseas, according to data reported by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.

The Outflow of Educated and Skilled Workers

Recent data from the emigration bureau uncovers a concerning trend. Among those departing the country, a noteworthy 12,787 individuals are classified as 'highly qualified,' underscoring the severity of Pakistan's brain drain issue. Furthermore, in 2023 so far, a substantial 26,405 individuals are designated as 'highly skilled,' with an additional 164,155 categorized as 'skilled' workers who have decided to seek opportunities abroad. Alongside them, nearly 198,000 'unskilled' Pakistani workers have also joined this migration wave, all in pursuit of overseas employment prospects.

Destinations of Pakistani Workers

The primary destination for Pakistani migrant workers is Saudi Arabia, attracting a substantial 205,515 individuals as their preferred workplace. Following closely behind is the UAE, with 121,745 Pakistanis opting for this nation, often considered a 'second home.' Additionally, several other Gulf nations, including Oman (34,140), Qatar (35,637), and Bahrain (7,441), have also experienced a notable influx of Pakistani labor force. Beyond the Gulf region, Malaysia attracted 16,166 individuals, while China saw 990 arrivals from Pakistan. A smaller group of Pakistani workers also ventured to countries such as South Korea, Japan, Cyprus, Germany, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, and Romania.

Occupational Diversity Among Immigrants

The diversity of professional occupations represented among departing workers is extensive. A substantial majority, totaling 192,188 individuals, have opted for labor-intensive roles classified as Laborers. Significant numbers also encompass positions such as drivers (96,466), technicians (12,491), salesmen (14,599), and electricians (9,847). Furthermore, 5,811 agriculturalists, 7,031 carpenters, and 4,998 cooks have embarked on journeys in pursuit of opportunities abroad. Notably, highly educated professionals, including engineers, doctors, IT specialists, and accountants, are also joining the emigration trend at an accelerated pace.

Conclusion:

The emigration wave from Pakistan in 2023 is marked by its diversity, encompassing a wide range of individuals from highly educated professionals to laborers. This substantial outflow presents a complex set of challenges and opportunities for the country. While the departure of highly skilled individuals raises concerns about brain drain and its impact on the domestic workforce, it also reflects a strong desire for improved job prospects abroad. The prominence of Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as preferred destinations underscores their significance for Pakistani workers.

Moreover, the diverse array of occupations chosen by emigrants highlights the breadth of skills and expertise that Pakistan contributes to the global workforce. To effectively address Pakistan's brain drain crisis in the first half of 2023, it is imperative to develop comprehensive policies and strategies aimed at retaining and attracting skilled workers, fostering job creation domestically, and addressing the underlying factors driving this emigration trend. Achieving a balance between stemming the outflow of talent and bolstering the domestic job market will be critical for the country's long-term prosperity and development.
